increase market share. The leading smart phone in the US is the Motorola Razr, but the iPhone has the ability to compete with this, during the third quarter of 2008
the iPhone managed to take the lead position in the market for smart phones (Information Week, 2008). It appears that the market is moving, away from the design only, to
desire for fashionable design combined with functionality (Information Week, 2008). Other trends within the smart phone market indicate the potential for sales of the iPhone is increasing. The market
to kids to be favoring smart phone handsets which have a QWERTY keyboard, these accounted for 11% of sales in the third quarter of 2007, but increased 20% in sales
for the same period in 2008, indicating the market preferences are moving in the direction that offer an opportunity to iPhone (Information Week, 2008). Other features that appear to be
important to include Bluetooth, in the third quarter of 2000 and 883% of mobile phones purchased had Bluetooth enabled compared to only 72% for the same period in 2007, music
is also becoming more important to 68% of phones sold in the first quarter of 2008 being music enabled compared to only 49% the previous year (Information Week, 2008). Therefore,
the iPhone has a potential opportunity to increase their missiles as it is already able to provide the features of the marketers demand in, and is added on a greater
