own actions. We feel that the world and life has somehow preordained us to remain in a given position or within a given role. According to Zig Ziglar, however,
this is not the case. We have the power, all of us, to become incredibly performers, leaders, role models, and anything else we could envision as successful. In his book
"Top Performance: How to Develop Excellence in Yourself and Others," Ziglar offers the reader many enlightening realities and suggestions as they involve being the best we can be, or at
least working at finding out how to be the best we can be. In the following paper we present a general overview of Ziglars book. Top Performance In the
beginning of Ziglars book he offers some incredibly intriguing perspectives concerning our reality. He indicates that we have choices and that we can choose to be a leader if we
want. Now, he does indicate that there are many things we cannot change about ourselves. For example, if we were born a particular race or color we cannot change that.
If we are a certain height, that cannot be changed. He also clearly demonstrates that we cannot change the past. But, we can change tomorrow, or even today. He states
that change is the key: "Tomorrow is a different subject. Regardless of your past, your tomorrow is a clean slate" (Ziglar 21). He argues that "You can choose what you
want to write on that slate. You make that choice each time you decide to respond to negative events or react to those negative events" (Ziglar 21). In terms
