meetings is to begin with a greeting and the first item on the agenda is typically the approval of the pervious meetings minutes. The purpose for this action is to
assure the minutes are correct as recorded. The CEOs discussion paper states that it outlines a history of the organization, Yarn, Inc. and it does provide a brief background
of the organization at the end of the paper. Historical backgrounds are usually at the beginning of a report to lead the reader up to the present point. The CEO
also states that the original mission for Yarn has already been altered. That alteration is significant, not slight as the CEO comments. The organization was established for a very specific
purpose, which was to help disenfranchised youth get jobs. The organization has already moved away from the passion of the four founders. One of the founding principles was to avoid
government funding completely because this type of funding always comes with limitations and rules that could be contrary to the organizations primary mission. And, in fact, that is what happened.
The paper introduces four possible options for the organization. The CEO explains what each option would mean for the organization. What the CEO fails to say is that transferring
their youth programs to Sacred Heart International (SHI) is giving up Yarn. In effect, the major purpose and mission of Yarn, Inc. would be acquired by SHI. There is a
promise of a three year committee to assure Yarns priorities are being met but as soon as one company acquires another, the acquired company has very little say in what
happens, committee or not. The letter states that each project would be assessed individually and separately to assure it was congruent "with Sacred Heart Internationals existing research activities" (p. 12).
