old form of physical and also spiritual activity indicates that there is far more to yoga than the media would often tell us. The following paper compares and contrasts two
articles that illustrate the benefits the elderly can gain from doing yoga. The articles, one detailed and one brief, are, respectively, "Older adults say yes to yoga: through yoga, older
adults can put the spring back in their step" by Tummers and Hendrick (2004), and "IDEA members study shows yoga benefits older adults" by Archer (2005). Yoga and
the Older Crowd "Older adults say yes to yoga: through yoga, older adults can put the spring back in their step" by Tummers and Hendrick (2004) makes the point that
people are living longer and longer, and that the older generations are just as concerned with fitness and well being as the younger generations who herald yoga as the solution
to many needs. "IDEA members study shows yoga benefits older adults" by Archer (2005), a much shorter article, did not illustrate the obvious, that the elderly crowd is growing and
is concerned with their fitness and well being. In the Tummers and Hendrick (2004) article the authors note that in a study conducted there were older men and women,
between the ages of 60 and 79, who lived in Miami and were part of a research to examine whether a program that took place three times a week for
six weeks was beneficial to the elderly. In Archers (2005) article the study involved an average age of 78, involved only 16 females, and took place one or two times
