any powerful war there are many causes, and many lasting effects. The following paper provides a brief overview of WWII, discussing its causes and consequences. World War II
As mentioned, many argue that WWII was really a continuation of WWI, a war that essentially started because many loose ends were not really tied up at the end of
the First World War. One of those loose ends involved the country of Germany and its determination to further itself, ultimately through the leadership of Hitler. In establishing WWII as
its own war, however, many see the Great Depression as one of the major forces of WWII for it was a depression that was influencing and affecting much of the
world (WWII: What was all the Fighting About?, 2007). One author notes that the depression, "generated worldwide political unrest and encouraged radical political reforms" and "In Germany, the demand for
reform brought the National Socialist Party (the Nazis) to power" (WWII: What was all the Fighting About?, 2007). Hitler became a power in 1921, many years before the Second World
War and not long after the end of World War I (The History Place, 1996). In relationship to allies Germany quickly aligned itself with Japan as Japan invaded China
and sought to possess much of Asia (WWII: What was all the Fighting About?, 2007). Germany and Japan were also allied with Italy, all of them desiring to fight communism
(Causes of the Second World War, 2006). The United States was not involved in this war until the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941 and at that point they joined
