as examples in Art History classes. Nor are Australians mentioned by art critics on a frequent basis for their originality of thought or composition. Compared to most "great art," in
fact, Australia doesnt just rank very high, although the Sydney Opera House is a marvel of original architecture. But as opposed
to "creative art," which depicts an artists feelings or concerns, Australian art, particularly the art created following the World War I, provided an ideal depiction of the actual events of
the times and the events that followed, including the Great Depression and World War II. As such, Australian art, while borrowing heavily
against other forms of art from other parts of the world, has provided a special chronicle of a countrys history, from its beginnings as a continental "jail" for British convicts,
