democracy, war and nationalism, as well as knowledge of some of the contemporary historical dimensions of world politics. Introduction - theories and evidence Governance has become a fashionable term
in political science for analyzing the pattern of rule, it is a different approach than determining the strengths and weaknesses of internationalism in describing world politics. The integration process
has been inextricably bound up with the transformation of both the traditional system of nation states and of the role of internationalism. This transformation has not been solely
the product of integration but has derived from other developments such as globalization, new developments in economic management, notably the move towards the regulatory state, and domestic moves towards
"new public management" as a way of better administering policy. Beate Kohler-Koch has seen the transformation of governance as affecting: the role of the state; the rules of behavior; the
