off from the world; we interact with other people, and sometimes we find ourselves in very difficult circumstances with no guide to help us make a good decision. This
paper examines a workplace scenario in which we are called upon to solve an ethical dilemma with regard to a co-worker. Discussion We have to make decisions every
day, meaning that we have to pick one alternative from among several. Sometimes there is a clear choice: this is wrong, thats right. However, its often much
more complicated than that, so that no matter what choice we make, it involves "subordinating one or more of our values" (Navran, 1994). That is, were going to have
to do something we think is wrong or questionable in order to avoid doing something else thats even more distressing. When we find ourselves in this position, were facing

like this, however, I think one can argue that "white lies" may be the best course of action, because in all probability our friend knows he made a mistake and
doesnt need us to reinforce his discomfort. I believe that most people know when theyve made a mistake like this and will soon correct it on their own.
