working while one is in high school is not necessarily a good thing. The following paper argues that having a job while in high school can be very detrimental.
Working While in High School As mentioned, many people believe that having a job while one is in high school can offer many rewards. The truth is that it
may well help some teens, and offer then some structure and confidence and economic power that they need. But, for most students working part time is likely a very damaging
activity. Teenagers are in a point in their lives when their experience has a tendency to essentially give them misconstrued ideas about the real world. Through working part time
at a job a teenager may find themselves more inclined to steal from a their place of employment, such as stealing a burger and drink, or stealing candy from a
theater. In addition, they may begin to associate real work life with part time work and that is clearly not a positive thing to do for working full time, in
a career, is not the presumably happy go lucky environment one may experience at a part time job. Generally speaking teenagers do not take work as seriously as an adult
because they do not need the money to survive. As such they do not put as much worth or ethical concerns into their job and this could well lead to
poor work habits as an adult. Again, some students may benefit from working but most will likely not. It should also perhaps be understood that what is being discussed
