For example, a person who is a cashier at a grocery store may find that their identity is really not changed by their work. But, people who are involved in
jobs that are high stress or jobs that involve a very personal commitment can become incredibly influenced by their work, inadvertently seeing their identities change to some degree because of
their job. The following paper argues that a persons job can greatly influence their identity. Work and Identity As mentioned, there are many jobs that perhaps do not affect
ones identity, or at least influence their identity in a very powerful manner. However, at the same time, even a grocery store cashier is likely to see their identity slowly
change through the years as they learn about people. Of course they would need to have the sort of personality that paid attention to people, a depth that looked to
furthering their own personal development. There are many jobs that powerfully change a persons identity in one way or another, or at least influence their identity. For example, a
legal secretary involved in domestic cases may come across things they would not otherwise come in contact with and thus learn a great deal about the horrors and depression of
relationships. They may involve numerous cases where they have to talk to clients who are accused of child abuse, look through files of pornography for documentation, and otherwise immerse themselves
in worlds that are very unlike their own. Such exposure is bound to alter ones identity in terms of how they look at the world, relationships, and other people. A
