conflicts between an individuals work and their family can result in a number of negative consequences. Lowered job satisfaction is one of these consequences (Bass, Butler, Grzywacz, et. al.,
2008). The more conflict that erupts between the job and the family, the less satisfied an individual is with their job. Certain family resources, however, can buffer this
relationship. On the other hand, certain family characteristics that are considered strengths in other contexts can have a negative impact on work family conflict.
Bass, Butler, Grzywacz, et. al. (2008) define work-family conflict as that state that arises "when demands from the work domain interfere with demands or responsibilities in the
family domain" (p. 24). Theorists have proposed various models to describe the various relationships that emerge. One such model, the spillover model, notes that both negatives and
positives can "spill over" from the workplace to the family (Mulvaney, 2006). When a worker is happy in his or her job they are more likely to be happy
in their home life (Mulvaney, 2006). Conflict, of course, is a natural component of all human interaction. Conflict can erupt even among
close family members and friends. It can also erupt between complete strangers. The workplace, however, has special conditions and considerations which make resolving conflict imperative. First the
