attention is placed on the Enlightenment and changes experienced by women of the day, it seems that a great deal of the social impact on women stems from the Renaissance.
At least the Renaissance represents the beginnings of a paradigm shift in thought. The European Renaissance would mark an exciting era for the world. It was one where there was
a transition from the Medieval times, to the modern world. It was not only that things changed physically and in respect to scientific knowledge, but that thought would shift immensely.
Suddenly, the world was not flat and new ideas were being bandied about. There was a new sense that religion was no longer an accepted fact and new philosophical
ideas would emerge. Yet, with all the changes that sprang from the Renaissance, women were still held back quite a bit. In fact, one may say it was an illusion
that women made any significant strides during the time period. Yes, there were changes, but they were subtle at best. At the same time, it would be unfortunate to miss
these nuances as they are in fact precursors to a later era where women would come into their own. For example, it is not as if womens suffrage would come
about immediately and without any history. During the Renaissance, both men and women planted seeds for later development in terms of womens issues and how they would be perceived throughout
the world. Small changes in respect to womens rights were made during the Renaissance. II. Women and the Family Today, women are often associated with being in
