The Ruwe Holy Ghost Church, shares this root with the Cross Church and the Musdanda Holy Ghost Church tracing their origins back only to 1912 in Western Kenya. The way in which the religion has been adopted can be seen as focused more on the spiritual aspect, fitting in more with the culture that was in place prior to the introduction of Christianity, there is also a greater degree of political upheaval reflected in the structure and evolution of the churches, with more than 200 registered independent churches and Hoehler-Fattons estimate of between fifty thousand and seventy five thousand followers (Hoehler-Fatton, 1996). Howeve,r the prscitcves that were observed by the western missionaries were found to be disturbing due to the local interpretation and the practices. However the religion was taken on and interpreted in a different context. There is the need for a point of identity in any relation for those following, something that they can relate to and identify with.
