really does go to biblical characterization of women anyway. It was Eve who was beguiling. She tricked Adam. Since that time, a variety of misogynists would portray women as either
virgins or whores. There was always the ideal, and then there was the downfall of women, but in general, many people who attack women see them as somewhat conniving. In
fact, it is a stereotype that women are manipulative, even when a positive portrait of her is displayed. The woman is viewed as ambitious and someone who uses subtle power
to get what she wants. She is the one who sits home while the man goes out to work, and on his day off, coaxes him to put up
wallpaper or do some errand she could have done all week. Of course, that is a stereotype and modern feminism would portray things in quite the opposite fashion, depicting housework
as a never ending drudgery. When examining this quote and the assumption that is behind it--women are powerful and dangerous--it pays to look at Simone De Beauvoirs (1989) The Second
Sex. In this work, De Beauvoir views women as being subservient and not getting the recognition she deserves. Of course, the author writes this in the 1950s when things were
quite different. De Beauvoir examines women through the ages and how they have been second class citizens. The truth is that to some extent, the author is right. Throughout
history, women have been subservient. At one time, they were not valued much more than slaves, at least in United States history. In other parts of the world, women are
