If they wanted any type of education they needed to be self taught, or else they were privileged enough to be in a situation where education was part of their social position. For example, as an individual who was of royalty, she had the privilege to be formally educated by a single individual. Some form of this type of education was sparse through history and throughout the world. As another example, we can note that some nuns were educated in their religion. But, for the most part, women have been refused acceptance into learning centers for the majority of history. In the following paper we present an examination of the history of womens education, and then present a discussion of how women, even when possessing equal education to men, still suffer in light of the fact that they do not make as much money. Even in the profession of teaching, a woman will receive a great deal less than a man in annual wages. Women and Education One would assume that, given the conditions and ideals of the new land of America, women would be allowed into colleges and institutes of education. "But it would take time" (Anonymous The Education of Women, 1998; women.html).
