2001 Introduction In many historical studies of crime women are show as victims of crime more than they are shown as the criminal. Unfortunately this is an appropriate
portrayal of reality in our society. The author will examine some of the background of this issue. Are there reasons? Are there reasons for women being more victimized than
men? If there is an answer at all, it sounds simplistically silly: women are victimized more because they can be. The logic sounds not much better than
the reason: if you are going to commit an offense against another human, are you going to pick the one, who looks as though they would as grandma used
to say, knock your block off ; or will your choice be the person who appears unsuspecting or self-absorbed? Physical size may not be the deciding factor, however, catching
the person in an emotionally off-balance position will add to your advantage. Street crime The common sense approach to "fighting back" against this ancient history of crime against women when
one is out of the house is to be aware that such a situation is Possible. The days of "it wont happen to me," are long gone. What
we hope to create, is the situation that "it will not happen to me today." Personal body language and dress are influencing factors. To make this idea
