love through our body language. Monica M. Moore wrote an essay on a study which is titled "Nonverbal Courtship Patterns in Women: Context and Consequences." The following paper answers some questions offered by the student requesting this paper, questions that indicate how women use their body language to communicate. Women Use Body Language to Communicate The first question is: What are three types of non-verbal communication by women? The first type, and the type that allows for movement towards other forms of non verbal communication, involved facial expressions and head patters. The study states that, "All women performed glancing behaviors, although the particular pattern varied among the individual subjects in the duration or length of time involved in eye to eye contact" (Moore; 518). Another form of approach is the giggling and laughing as well as simple smiling. And, still yet another, when a man and woman are in contact, involves whispering. While whispering is verbal communication, it is the gesture, the act, that is very non verbal: "Finally, the whisper was used by most of the subjects in the sample. The woman moved her mouth near another persons ear and soft vocalizations presumably were produced. Sometimes body contact was made" (Moore; 419). The second question is: When will a man make his approach to a woman? This can vary a great deal depending on how a woman is "advertising" herself so to speak. This study indicated that the more actions the woman engaged in, in terms of smiling, laughing, glancing, primping, dancing in her chair, etc., the more likely she was to be approached.
