to the safety of servicemen. American women are not qualified psychologically or behaviorally to serve in the military. Although there may be a few exceptions, as a whole,
the female gender has the potential of, and does respond inadequately in military situations, as is evidenced by todays press. The
reasons for this are partly that American women have been socialized to be caretakers and American men have been socialized to be protectors. In response to this issue, I
will provide evidence of behavioral and psychological tests that prove that men and women respond different to coping, leadership, and other aggressive/assertive situations. Not only are women unprepared psychologically,
they are not prepared to meet the physical regimen required by the military environment. Army reports have been released which prove that some of the branches of the military
have had to incorporate different standards in basic training. As a result, the military has had to divide its ranks to accommodate at least the physicality of women.
An argument can be raised that Israeli, Basque and Nicaraguan women have fought along their male counterparts for decades. (Hartmann, 1995, pp. 15)
However, this does not automatically equate to the readiness of American women for military service. American women are not emotionally ready to undertake the regimen of military life,
