in New York City. Now an international organization, affiliates can be found in virtually every nation in the world, from Scotland to Australia to Wales and all the places
in between. Their location listed in New York is 358 West 47th Street, New York, NY 10036. Phone: 212-307-5505. This organization is founded on the premise that
"First Amendment rights should not include materials which victimize women in any manner" (Denha 2002, PG). One of the co-founders of this organization, Dorchen Leidholdt, explains that it is
the feeling of WAP that pornography is a leading cause of violence and other illegal activities including drug use, kidnapping and crime. Leidholdt filed a lawsuit against Hustler Magazine
that was later moved from Wyoming to California. She has written several books on the subject of pornography leading to violence, and is, according to her biographical data,
"A feminist activist attorney, is the director of a legal services program for battered women in New York City and co-executive director of the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women, an
international nongovernmental organization with consultative status to the United Nations. She has represented hundreds of victims of prostitution, rape and battering" (Who is Doris Leidholdt 2002, PG).
