His musical talents were noted at quite an early age, with his father – Leopold – taking a particularly stringent approach to cultivating his budding musical abilities. Inasmuch as Wolfgang's father was a loving, but exacting, advisor, the child was showered upon with special attention and the opportunity to learn things his counterparts did not. 1756-1760) the child was showered upon with special attention and the opportunity to learn things his counterparts did not. As such, "it was the start of a relationship that
he would never quite break free of, and the beginning of a career that would consume him altogether" (Biography: 1756-1760). Wolfgangs inherent musical talent was so tremendous that he required
a mere half an hour to completely master is first composition, which occurred just three days shy of his fifth birthday. Soon to follow were other pieces learned in
"rapid succession" (Biography: 1761-1765), including another thirty-minute composition, a march and a scherzo, all accomplished in less than a two-week period of time. Then the most remarkable thing occurred:
Wolfgang composed his own musical piece to the extreme joy and father pride of Leopold. "Other small compositions would follow. Inconsequential as they were, these bits and pieces
were tokens of greater things to come" (Biography: 1761-1765). The promise that Wolfgang held for becoming a great composer caused Leopold to forfeit his own profession and focus more closely
upon molding his sons talent. Along with his sister, who was also extraordinarily musically inclined, Wolfgang took direction from Leopold, who had become so ambitious for his two children
that he set his sights upon introducing the European courts to his musical prodigies. A three-week tour of Munich court of Maximilian III Joseph, Elector of Bavaria was their
