to a network. In the work environment this means computers can be linked to a network where there are physical barriers. Indeed, it was this that motivated the first wireless
network in 1971 in Hawaii. Now the range of equipment that can be used to attach to a wireless network is vast. In an office environment a wireless network
may see a range of PC, lap tops and palm tops with networking cards which may be connected to the network through either a PCMIA cards or through USB connectors.
With the development 802.11g, the next step from 802.11b, wireless networks are now able to carry data at speed up to 54 Mbps. The value is the increased communication and
data flow between the different locations. The use of wireless network can be seen as valuable inside building and with many employees
who work outside of a potentially wired network area the value may also be in cost savings. Many smaller business or business in older building where installation of wires would
be problematic use wireless networking as a cost effective way of overcoming many of the barriers to wired networking and increasing connectivity. Wireless networks also increase the mobility of the
user, as such wireless networks can be found where there is the need for mobility. The use of wireless networks can be seen with many of the emergency services. This
requires the need for mobility. One of the major advantages is also that unlike a wired network if there is a disaster then there can be immediate disaster recovery and
the inconvenience and costs associated with that are also reduced (Brooke, 2000). The development of different tools to use on the wireless network
