may be seen as empowering for both the potential buyers as well as the corporations of the companys who are selling goods or services.
Wireless e-commerce components need to be considered in the context of the way they operate. This mean first defining e-commerce, as the task that is undertaken and then
looking at the wireless technology for the way it is undertaken. E-commerce is defined by the American Heritage Dictionary (2000), as "Commerce that is transacted electronically, as over the Internet".
This indicates that e-commerce is much wider than simply the internet, but that this is a prime example. This definition is very narrow, and the student should wish to expand
on this. The dictionary of computing has a fuller explanation; "The conducting of business communication and transactions over networks and through computers. As most restrictively defined, electronic commerce is the
buying and selling of goods and services, and the transfer of funds, through digital communications (Howe, 2001). Howe (2001) notes that e-commerce is
wider than simply buying and selling through the internet it also involves inter-company and intra-company functions which may include the management of finance, marketing and even the control of manufacture,
or any other functions that can be carried out in such a medium, as well as tool such as the use of electronic money, including schemes such as Mondex or
