Winston Churchills Ancestry It should first be noted that writing about ones ancestors is very complex and also very difficult to write down in a cohesive essay format. This is because a grandmother on one side can be discussed and then that particular line, with the essay going off in that direction and then returning back to a more modern time to discuss another line. With that in mind this essay primarily offers up various authors discussions of the ancestry of Churchill. One author notes that the ancestry of Churchill has been researched and studied by many people, with many attempting to discover some obscure line of descent. There is the discussion, and presumption, that Churchill was part Iroquois which has not been proven but has substantial history in terms of the familys legacy, where some individuals came from, and physical characteristics (Churchill, 2009). In another note it is stated how "A recent article on this subject referred to the Medici, Bardi and Guicciardini families in his florentine background (Genealogists Magazine Vol. 21 Nos. 2 & 3), which stem from Lady Frances Vane, wife of the 7th Duke of Marlborough" (Daniels, 2009). Daniels (2009), however, discusses one particular line of Churchills, the Spencers. It is noted that "The earliest known member of the family would appear to be Sir John Spencer of Wormieighton, Warwickshire who bought Althorp in Northamptonshire, was granted arms in 1504, and died in 1522" (Daniels, 2009).
