in the history of that century. The following paper examines the life and work of Winston Churchill as a great leader. Winston Churchill
Born in 1874, to a famous and wealthy family, it is noted that he obtained his schooling at Harrow, being admitted by apparently only putting his name on
exam papers (Winston Churchill). He then moved on to go to the Royal Military Academy, then gaining "a commission in the Fourth Hussars. He saw some military action and took
part in the Battle of Omdurman in 1898" (Winston Churchill). It was during the Boer War that he became a war correspondent wherein he was captured, held as a prisoner
(Winston Churchill). After his time in the military he went into politics and was considered by many to be a maverick of
his times (Winston Churchill). This seems to be the case because he was always learning and apparently moving into different parties, for example being part of the Conservative MP and
then leaving this party to belong to the Liberal Party, "which, he believed, better represented his economic views on free trade. From 1906 to 1908, he was a Liberal MP
for northwest Manchester and from 1908 to 1922, he was MP for Dundee" (Winston Churchill). During this time he did a stint where
