may recall, computers used to respond to a string of DOS (disc operating system) commands that were hard to remember and had to be typed in exactly at the C
prompt, or nothing would happen. The system was generally harder to manipulate and much less responsive than systems today. Since its first release, Windows has gone through countless versions,
some great improvements, some not very popular, and some so full of bugs as to be almost unusable. Despite these flaws,
Windows is the most popular operating system in the world. Some of the reasons for its popularity, despite the problems with the software, include the fact that it "supports
more hardware than any other OS"; there is more software written for it than for any other system; its used almost everywhere; its no more expensive than any other system;
and its easy to use-or at least everyones used to it by now (The Pros and Cons of Windows, 2004). This last comment bring up another point of importance
with regard to the word processing software. I believe WordPerfect is arguably a much better word processing program than Word.
Its somewhat harder to learn but its more powerful and more versatile, and for the operator, it has more helpful features. Word has nothing as helpful as WordPerfects REVEAL CODES,
which lets you see exactly what youve put in; with Word you have to guess where the codes begin and end, with the result that you can change fonts and
