number of different editions. Each server operating system is targeted towards a particular size and type of business. Through its various programs, both the 2003 and 2008 versions provide a
variety of tools for the user, including the ability to create word documents and spreadsheets, print photos, check email, surf the web, play games, paint pictures, download software, share files,
chat online, stream media and perform a number of other service-oriented functions. This essay will compare Windows 2003 and Windows 2008 and outline some of the major features and benefits
of each server operating system. Released on April 24, 2003, Windows Server 2003, which is also referred to as Win2K3, is an updated version of Windows 2000. There are approximately
eight different editions of Windows 2003 including Windows Small Business Server, Web Edition, Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition, Datacenter Edition, Windows Compute Cluster Server, and Windows Home Server. Each edition serves
