beyond. It is a study of one mans demise as he reaches the end of his life and he begins to see that everything he has struggled for has been
illusion. He is a victim of the promised American Dream that cannot be obtained without vision and wisdom. In this story we also have two sons who represent very different
things, taking different aspects of their father. The following paper examines if Willy contributes to the failures of his sons, Biff and Happy. Willy and Happy While parents
are always somewhat responsible for how their children turn out, in light of the fact that they pass along habits and traits in many subtle ways, parents cannot be completely
blamed for any failure in a child. The individual is still an individual and they decide what to do with what their parents have passed along in many instances. This
sort of truth is very evident in the characters of Biff and Happy. Happy is the ultimate reflection of Willy and has taken all the most shallow teachings of
his father to heart. He is, as his name indicates, simple and he never really develops throughout the story. He has believed, and always will believe, what his father has
told him about the American Dream. It is likely that when he ages and gets to a point in his life when he has worked for many decades he will
come round to the point that Willy is now, realizing all he has worked for has been nothing. But, throughout this play we see Happy simply believing that all he
has to do is work hard, at some pointless job, and he will be successful and wanted and respected. In these respects we can see that with Happy one
