often the couple will undergo a crisis. This may
not sound surprising. However, this crisis can be
the most difficult part of the issue. The 'injured'
spouse may feel emotionally abandoned by the other
spouse. She or he may feel a loss of her/his
image of marriage, of her/his marriage.
'A joint sense of loss as well as the expected
guilt and defensiveness.' Recurrent and persistent
thoughts about the situation can sometimes
interfere with a person's ability to function.
Individuals may have difficulty working, taking
care of themselves and/or their families, etc.
when such grief and reflection plague them. Few of
any of these principles apply to the salesman,
Willy Loman, or do they?
