pop culture to attract people works at least to an extent. On the other hand, there is more and more information on the Internet and so people do need
to visit libraries less frequently. Most people can connect to the Internet at home and can also get their tax forms, articles and encyclopedic information right online. Do they really
need to visit the library anymore? Will the brick and mortar library become obsolete? Students today see the library as irrelevant, but faculty of universities, and librarians as well, seem
to cling to the "security of an authoritative collection and familiar classification systems" (Lombardi, 2000). This goes to tradition to an extent, but it is more than that. The library
does deliver quality. On the other hand, the new generation that has been brought up on the web and MTV is used to gobs of information, but the flow
of data does not make a distinction in terms of quality (2000). Those who are older, and used to using the library, see information as both organized and structured
and they comprehend the difference that exists between sources (2000). In addition to the differences that exist in terms of organization, there are other reasons why the brick and mortar
library will never fade. Herring (2001) provides ten reasons why the Internet cannot be a substitute for the library. Herring (2001) claims, amongst other things, that not everything can
