--properly! Theres no secret that the economy in the United States is in ailing shape. Despite several taxpayer-funded "bailouts", the economic
picture is still quite grim: unemployment figures remain high, and the national debt continues to rise. Its even become the case that fiscal conservatives are finding a new heyday on
the stumps of Washington, promoting anti-regulatory measures that they hope will stimulate the revival of the American economy through grassroots means. One of the biggest pushes right now is for
tax cuts to be issues in an effort to help the economy. Such a platform is popular for obvious reasons: who doesnt want to pay less taxes? That said, however,
there remains some contention that such measures are really useful for reviving the economy in the long term view. In fact, some claim exactly the opposite: that tax cuts will
place us further in the hole than ever before. This paragraph and the next show the student how to look at the proposed tax cuts and analyze their potential
impact. One expert, Eggertsson (2009) believes that tax cuts will not be beneficial in the long term to rebuilding the United States economy. In fact, he claims that a fiscal
policy of this sort will actually "deepen the recession" due to the uncharacteristically low interest rates, some approaching zero, that will naturally occur as the result of the kind of
