This can be recognized through an assessment of personality development, behavioral issues and personal experiences in the character of Will Hunting, from the film Good Will Hunting. Will Hunting is a character who demonstrates that even though existing personality and intelligence elements can be in place regardless of environmental factors, environment plays a distinct role in how these are played out. Environmental personality theory indicates that environment can define how personality is expressed and how social indicators can define social expectations and experiences even in the midst of significant personality differences. Bandura (1997) argued that childrens process of learning is deeply connected to their personal experiences and the integration of knowledge based on experience throughout the life of the child. According to Bandura, the social learning theory is based in the notion that everything that individuals learn is based in experience, and that there is little concrete, including personality, that exists prior to experiential exposure and subsequent incorporation of learned information into the intellect. Bandura (1977) argued that cognitive and information-processing capacities that mediate intellectual development and social behavior are inherently linked to learned and imitated processes. Will Hunting is a character who demonstrates vast intelligence and a drive for knowledge even in the midst of a social environment and peer group that places little value of these elements. Wills family was one marked by alcoholism and familial dissolution and his detached demeanor at times reflects the fact that it is likely that he had a poor level of maternal attachment.
