white kids in the the suburbs or rural areas who watch Snoop Dogg, Tupac, Nelly, Fifty Cent and a host of others who make up a new genre of music
that has been adopted by much of adolescent America. Not every white boy has the desire to wear low riding jeans with huge pockets and more than just a smidgen
of underwear showing. In fact, the hip hop and rap movements that are led primarily by black artists have been opposed by the mostly white musicians to emanate from the
old punk and metal rock eras. Still, there is tolerance in the high school communities around America in respect to music genres and dress. It is just that some of
the white suburbanites happen to be "wiggers." While the origin of the term wigger is not certain, it is a somewhat derogatory term that denotes a white person as a
wannabe black urban type. It is derogatory mostly because it rhymes with the "N" word, but it is also negative in that it is making fun of the white folks
who try very hard to be cool by mimicking black urban youth. Still, it is by no means as offense as the "N" word, which incidentally does appear in the
dictionary. To an extent, there is a mystique about urban culture and a true embrace of the culture by the larger society. Fashion trends and music genres tend to
emerge from the inner city. There is also a sense that urban youth are more trendy, tougher, and more knowledgeable than their white, sheltered counterparts. The term wigger therefore
