marine employees gain counselling or more practical help. The job description is wide, as such those that undertake this role have to enjoy a challenging and often unseen role,
which is important but low profile. In looking at how any individual may be able to bring value to the job, it is the skills, experience and personality characteristics that
need to be examined. In the case of someone with twenty-four year of experience, this is a major advantage. The advantage is not only personal experience but also the
understanding of the marine culture and the observations made during that time. Culture can be a difficult aspect of any organisation to understand, and is key to functioning within it
