morning after, or merely misinterpreted gestures? Some types of feminism are purportedly tied to the "all sex is rape" dictum but most feminists deny that such a statement was ever
uttered. While the definitions of rape, and date rape, remain illusive, what is clear is that there is such a thing as forcible sex. In fact, about 8%
of men perpetrate acts that may be legally construed as rape (Koss, 1988; Koss, Gidycz, & Wisniewski, 1987 as cited as Caron & Carter, 1997, p.568). Women have been taken
against their will for centuries, and while the definition of rape is somewhat vague, that does not mean that it defies definition. Rape is a criminal act that is punishable.
It is not some notion that exists only in the minds of women. It happens and it is a crime that is prosecutable. While there are many convicted rapists, there
are likely many more who go on to rape again. Some women are ashamed, or unsure, about what has happened to them. They have mixed emotions after an acquaintance rape,
and if their own husband is responsible for the rape, they question whether or not that is even possible. Can a husband rape a wife when the relationship is sexual?
The answer is a resounding yes, but one can imagine why a wife would hesitate to bring charges against the man she married. In any event, for all rape, the
