portion control is all the rage in addition to sushi at the supermarket and Japanese bowls (2003). Indeed, Japanese food is chic and sushi is especially popular today. While the
food is tasty, that is not the only reason for its popularity. It has the reputation of being healthy as it contains fish, rice and vegetables. With a step away
from beef that has gotten a bad reputation, sushi is a healthy alternative. Also, the food tends to be fresh. Sushi has to be extremely fresh and made while a
customer waits. At least, that is the proper way to serve it. It is not something that should be prepared in advance. There are some drawbacks to Japanese food and
sushi in particular. Obstetricians do not recommend sushi for their pregnant patients and raw fish when left out too long, or not properly prepared can be deadly for anyone. One
has to question that sushi made in supermarkets for example. Again, care must be taken to make sure that the fish is very fresh. There are other detriments to Japanese
cuisine. When engaging in Japanese cooking, special ingredients like seaweed and dashi stock are often necessary (Conan, 2003). Of course, when embarking on Japanese cooking, one can derive the healthy
benefits with more prepared supermarket finds in the frozen section. For example, there are Simply Asia noodle kits where one can perhaps add some grilled salmon or use matchstick-cut
vegetables to put in the Miso Sauce (2003). While Japanese food is healthy, it behooves some who do not live near big cities to get the proper fresh ingredients. An
