It was with the desire to support freedom and democracy that brought me from Romania, where I was born, to the United States. It is said that it is difficult
to fully appreciate something that you take for granted, which is always present. Growing up in Romania, when it was under communist rule I have learned the value of freedom.
As a child I would watch my grandfather, he had often told tales of the American soldiers he had met during the Second World War, and at night he
would watch the skies. It was only when I was 16 years of age that I asked him why he watched; he responded "The Americans, the American airplane will come
to give us freedom". It was with these lessons not only of where America was, but the values and ideals that its constitution represented.
After graduating a Bachelors degree in Physical Education from the "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati, Romania I spent eight years working as a finger prints expert
for the Romanian Police demonstrating my avid interest and belief in upholding justice. When I moved the United States in 2001, where I gained an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice
awarded by Texas Community Collage. When I joined the Army on the 3rd of February 2003 this was not only a career
decision, it was one that encapsulated my values and beliefs. My grandfather was so proud, even though he had never visited the US; it is a pride I now
