2008). Goofy is a friendly and likeable character who is easy to identify with. The first way in which I can identify with Goofy is due to his sense of
fun which is infectious and spread to others. The first characteristic identified with Goofy, as noted above, is that of its laugh. This laugh was provided by Pinto Colvig, a
Disney storyman, who provided Goofy with a raucous laugh (Disney, 2008). However, his character is further developed between his first appearance 1932 and 1939 when he finally is given the
name Goofy. His first name was Dippy Dwag, but in 1938 the publication of a book indicated a shift in the name to Dippy the Goof, and finally he became
simply Goofy in the cartoon "Goofy and Wilbur" (Disney, 2008). In all of these characterizations is Goofy image is one that is friendly and happy. The image of fun is
helped with the movement of the character. Although presented as an animal, Goofy was actually created as a human, with a human voice and walking upright, opposed to Pluto who
was Mickey Mouses pet. The body language and movement is relaxed and laid-back style associated with an unstressed attitude can also be linked to farm.
