cannot imaging why people would want to spend all the time and energy required for a garden, not to mention the mess and the cost. But, gardening is an ancient
pleasure and need for many people, and as such it is a pleasure and necessity for people in the Pacific Northwest as well. The following paper examines why people garden
and more specifically why they garden in the Pacific Northwest. Why Garden: Pacific Northwest For anyone who has ever been to, or lived in, the Pacific Northwest there
is the knowledge that things can grow very well. But, at the same time there is not the necessary amount of sunshine that the rest of the nation may receive.
While some things seem to grow to enormous size, other things will not grow well because it is too damp and too overcast in many cases. While they do not
get very severe winters, they do have a lot of moisture and like any environment, this creates a challenge for anyone who desires to garden. If a person loves things
like blackberries and squash and ferns then gardening in the Pacific Northwest is heaven. If someone desires to grow plants that require a lot of sun and a dry heat
then the Pacific Northwest will be difficult for gardening. Like anyone around the world, people in the Pacific Northwest who want to garden, and love to garden, will have
to work with the plants that love the climate of their particular region. And, that in itself is perhaps part of the challenge. And, it may well be that the
