It is something that is ingrained and while there are only a few communist states left, the truth is that Communism--at least as Karl Marx developed it--was never fully implemented.
There was never a leader honest enough to give it the old college try. Everything that was done was seemingly done not just in haste, but with greed as its
impetus. When greed is in the picture, it pays to rely on capitalism because with that scenario, there is at least a chance for everyone to achieve. When a communist
country is controlled by the unscrupulous or by people who do not fully embrace the idea--they would have to share too--it does not work well. People become poor and are
denied basic human rights. This has come about over and over again and while it would seem that the problem is with the implementation of the system and not the
paradigm itself, few will admit to that. Rather, after fighting nations for years over the issue, it would be hard to admit that perhaps communism has a chance. Everything that
has occurred in the twentieth century claims that this is just not the case. Of course, the fact that communism has failed due to implementation, and not that the ideal
has failed, is something that is hard to prove. After all, it seems that it is easy to say that communism is good or bad, but it is hard to
actually demonstrate it without understanding the reasons for its demise. The fact is that communism is very likely achievable under the right circumstances. If communism were implemented based upon the
idea that all would share the wealth, and that the state would be fairly run, it could work. On the other hand, many capitalists do not like the idea of
