United States economically, and while that may be the case, there are underlying factors that render Chinas rise less than valuable. The political structure of China, and its current state where goods are manufactured more cheaply than in the United States, benefits China. American companies manufacture goods in China, and this contributes to their bottom line. Arguably, it helps American companies to sell consumers goods at reduced prices. Yet, one has to wonder how the Chinese are able to create a haven that is seemingly ideal. Its economy is flourishing, and it is leaving the United States behind. There are a multitude of factors to explain the phenomenon, but the picture in China is not as rosy as it seems on the surface. The Chinese have experienced remarkable growth, but the cost is an impoverished population sector that is larger than that of the United States, a nation that tolerates human rights abuses, and a fledgling middle class that is not yet on its feet. The United States is still a better place to live, and the people enjoy freedom. Freedom is not only idealistic. It actually provides the people with the freedom to earn money, something that just is not present within Chinas controlled structure. Changes in each economy may prompt political action, but the action is seen largely in the United States in recent times. The people of the United States have the freedom to take action, and this has spurred the ninety-nine percent movement. It is therefore important to examine both economies as it becomes clear that while on paper, China looks good, the United States of America continues to offer its citizens many more opportunities.
