direction that society in which society is going makes some choices not as good as others. One of the best choices today involves, perhaps, any career in the health field.
Becoming an EMT is one of those jobs that will always be around, and also one of those jobs that makes a big difference in the lives of others. The
following paper examines why becoming an EMT is a very positive choice for a career. Why Becoming an EMT is a Positive Choice In terms of what an
EMT does one author notes that they, "Peoples lives often depend on the quick reaction and competent care of emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics. Incidents as varied as automobile
accidents, heart attacks, slips and falls, childbirth, and gunshot wounds all require immediate medical attention" (United States Department of Labor, 2009). In essence, an EMT helps save peoples lives. It
is up to the EMTs to transport individuals to a local medical facility and it is often their job to keep the patient stable for the trip. As such there
is clearly some medical training. But, at the same time, another author notes how, "When deciding to choose a medical career as an EMT, there is really no other field
that offers all of the benefits of the adrenalin rush of an emergency with little to no follow up required" (Trix, 2009). Being an EMT is not necessarily just
being a volunteer who is trained, though some EMTs are not much more than small community volunteers. But, all EMTs "must complete a formal training and certification process" and then
they can choose where to work, such as for a hospital, and whether or not they want to move up to a higher level position (United States Department of Labor,
