that it does not matter who Godot is. Part of the entire reason for offering the individual or being or object that is Godot is to illustrate the vague realities of the two men in the play. Godot is something that serves to support their position, or lack of position. In all honesty, it is paramount that we Godot not be defined or discovered for if such were to take place the play would cease to make the comments it does. In the following paper we discuss how the play is about how vague and lacking in definition the world can be, and that is why Godot needs to definition. Waiting for Godot As the student has stated, "Waiting for Godot is all about how the world is based on chance. A world based on chance can have no orderly time sequence, and thus time has no meaning. The extension, then, is that human life has no meaning. Realizing this, humans will create distractions and diversions, in the form of patterns and reliance on nebulous forces, to provide the purpose and meaning that is inherently lacking in their lives. Waiting for Godot is the classical, archetypical presentation of this facet of human existence." This particular perspective fits well with the argument of another who states that Becketts play belongs to the Theater of the Absurd: "This implies that it is meant to be irrational. Absurd theater does away with the concepts of drama, chronological plot, logical language, themes, and recognizable settings" (Anonymous About Waiting for Godot About_the_Play.html).
