In fact, Botkin1 states that the term Judaizer was not used in the English language until about 1582. However, Ioudaizo is a Greek verb that is translated to mean to
judaize. This verb appears in the original Greek version of the Book of Esther following a battle when people of other nationalities began to act like Jews: "And many people
of other nationalities became Jews because fear of the Jews had seized them" (Esther 8:17) and in Pauls Epistle to the Galatians 2:14.2 Paul wrote: "You are a Jew, yet
you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs?" (Galatians 2:14). Botkin3 suggests the best description of
what a Judaizer is can be found in Acts 15:1: "Certain people came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the believers: Unless you are circumcised, according to the
custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved." Theologians and scholars have translated the term Judaizer to mean to live like Jews, to follow the customs of Jews, to live
by Jewish law or the like.4 One of the specific issues brought up was circumcision, which was required under Mosaic Law. it was one thing when Jews followed Christ and
became Christians. The males had already been circumcised but when Gentiles became Christians the former Jews were insisting they circumcise their sons. These very early Jewish converts argued that circumcision
