important car to have been introduced in the 90s as well. It may well have been that the public did not feel the pressure or concern for the environment as
they do today and so the electric car never really saw any success. The following paper examines this film. Who Killed the Electric Car? In this film the
viewer is presented with the story of the EV1 which was an electric car advertised by GM in the 90s. It had a very short life and it seems that
most of the cars were actually destroyed, or were being located in order to be destroyed. The film presents a look at a car that GM seemed almost reluctant to
make and market. The underlying pressures were many. The pressures, as one could imagine, involved the auto industry, oil interests, and the people deeply immersed in these industries, including the
Bush administration. One can well understand the fears, the reasonable fears associated with the possible success of an electric car. There is so much money invested in oil interests, for
example, that many people would be out of work if the electric car ever took off. There would be less demand for gas stations and car manufacturers would have to
completely reconfigure their corporations. It would all but demand a complete restructuring of the nation and how the nation saw energy and cars. With such pressure behind the issue it
comes as little surprise that the electric car did not take off a decade or more ago and these are all issues presented in the film. Today many people
