this problem, where God may exist only in the minds eye, one has to weigh the legitimacy of the factors relating to the idea of God. Descartes for example insists
that the idea of God must emanate from God. It is an idea that makes sense. If the idea of God emanates from man, then it is just a
human idea. If the concept emanates from an inner spirit that is connected to a higher being, the idea of God has legitimacy. That said, Descartes does not give much
credence to experiential knowledge. In any event, Ren? Descartes deduced that if there is a God, based on all the criterion he set up, then it would be more perfect
for God to exist than not to exist (Grafton, 1996). To some, the idea is ludicrous. If someone draws a perfect fashion model on a piece of paper, the picture
of the beautiful woman would be more perfect if she were real, something akin to the premise of the television show Weird Science. But the absence of humanness to the
drawing does not make the picture less perfect. It may nonetheless be a perfect depiction of what a perfect woman would look like. Still, the idea comes from the logic
that Descartes employs in his evaluation of things. In order to better understand why Descartes believes as he does, and exactly what his theories are, it pays to delve
