There is a difference in some states as to when an individual can obtain a drivers license, it could be 16 or 18. In some states, an individual can purchase alcoholic beverages when they are 18 but they must be 21 in other states (Wests Encyclopedia, 2008). As Schulter (2009) commented, the age of adulthood varies from place to place. Most countries consider an individual who is 18 to be old enough to manage their own affairs and to accept responsibility for their own actions. Consider education: in most states an adolescent can choose to leave school at the age of 16 but if a child of 12 or so commits a particularly vicious crime, they can be tried as an adult Erik Erickson, a developmental psychologist, identified the ages between 18 and 35 as early adulthood. The previous stage of development is adolescence which covers ages 12 through 18 (Harder, 2009). Part 2: Attachment theory for infants, children and adolescents has been confirmed by a number of theorists. Erikson, for instance, asserted that infants become attached to their caregiver when their needs are met. They feel secure and safe. Bowlby believed that all animals, including humans, are born with the desire to be close to their parents in order to be safe.
