must be 21 in other states (Wests Encyclopedia, 2008). As Schulter (2009) commented, the age of adulthood varies from place to place. Most countries consider an individual who is 18
to be old enough to manage their own affairs and to accept responsibility for their own actions. Consider education: in most states an adolescent can choose to leave school at
the age of 16 but if a child of 12 or so commits a particularly vicious crime, they can be tried as an adult Erik Erickson, a developmental psychologist,
