The therapist that is a Christian, however, has a much better perspective on those troubles. Their grounding in the teachings of Christ allows them to serve a better
influence in the lives of their clients. Consequently, they are able to guide their clients through times of crisis much more effectively.
Crisis is an unfortunate yet all too common element in day to day life. Crisis takes a devastating toll on individuals, families and entire communities. As Christians, however,
we have the ability to intervene in crisis and to lessen it impact by helping the individual(s) confront their problems head on.
The Bible offers considerable strength to those that will look there for it. Wright (2003) emphasizes that Christian counseling entails a detailed knowledge of the Bible. The
Christian therapist has the knowledge to direct the spiritual search, to provide comfort in the world of God for those that have been knocked to their knees by life.
Crisis intervention from a Biblical perspective, however, entails careful and calculated progression. As is the case in every therapy session, there is the potential for making a bad situation
even worse. The therapist must guard against that potential while still providing the comfort, reassurance, and direction that their client needs. It
is important for the Christian therapist to remember that in order to effectively counsel another individual they must be confident in themselves and in their relationship with God. Only
