study has a great deal of value, as both a reflection of the society in which we live, its values, ethics and lifestyle as well as a tool by which
other cultures including those of the past may be examined. In understanding popular culture humanity may be more understood, but to appreciate this argument the term popular culture needs to
be understood, not only by way of a definition, but in terms of value it can create. Popular culture is often associated with the mass media (Halambros and Holborn,
2000). In reality popular culture may be seen as mass culture, it is the culture pf a time that is popular, Therefore, although associated with the mass media, this is
also a potentially misleading concept, as it indicates popular culture is as new as the phenomenon as the mass media. In reality there is no generally agreed up, all
inclusive, definition of popular culture. Any individual who is asked will known that starts such as Madonna embody popular culture (Hoppenstand, 2003), as may others such as Kylie Minogue. It
is easy to identify individual aspects of popular culture, music, cars television programmes and movies, books even buildings and holidays (Hoppenstand, 2003), as well as food any product that is
