a novel that speaks of control in society, control to the extent that people truly have no free will or desire to seek free will. But, as with any story
involving the future and the lack of passion and hope in humanity there are characters who seek to experience something different, perhaps pain and spiritualism that has nothing to do
with the brave new world. In Huxleys novel there is John, a man who seeks such truth, and Mustapha Monda, a man who controls people for their own good. The
following paper examines who is right, whose perspective is the most righteous as it involves freedom. John is right for true freedom, happiness, and life only comes through suffering to
some extent. What is Freedom and What is Right in Brave New World In this particular novel there is John, the Savage, and Mustapha Mond, who is essentially
in control of society. John has lived his life in exile and so has all but raised himself in many ways, learning to live through reading, and perhaps more primarily
through the reading of Shakespeare. He understands, at least in literature, about things like suffering, love, life, hopes, fear, and all that life entails. The society which Mond controls is
one that is ruled by sedation in many ways. There are no mothers, no fathers, no life long commitments, and a control through the use of Soma which is a
drug that keeps everyone happy and sedate. At one point in the book these two individuals come together and argue their position. Mond states "the worlds stable now. People
are happy; they get what they want, and they never want what they cant get" (Huxley 149). He claims they are happy and do not have to know the
