are unable to access sufficient resources if other types, for example, Hong Kong built an economy that is dependant on the services sector, partiality driven by the lack of natural
resources. The services sector can be a driving force for economic benefit in both developed and developing economies. The question is which are the most important service exports that a
city can produce? There is a high level of service exports taking place and figures for the total level of all exported services globally do not appear to exist with
any level of certainty. With a large sector that covers a wide range of services from financial services, and customer services including the setting up of call centers through to
more specialized services such as the transcribing of patient notes for hospitals and the development of software as well as web services all seeing increasing levels of exporting taking place
it may be argued as difficult to assess what types of services are better in an economic sense. It may appear to be common sense to argue that the
services which will be in the most demand and which a city has the resources to supply at a competitive cost to the buyer should be the area of services
that a city should concentrate or encourage in order to aid economic development. For example, there has been a great deal of business gained by India setting up call centers
